Climate

The atmospheric temperature in this region ranges from 20°C to 34°C. For most months of the year, a temperature of around 26°C is experienced. The hottest months are April and May. The months of December and January are comparatively cooler. Overall, this region falls within a moderate climatic zone.

Considering the climate and topography, the region has suitable surroundings for developing into a good tourist destination. The Neyyar Dam–Peppara Road, which has been recognized as a major tourist road in the state, passes through the heart of Amboori Grama Panchayat. However, the road has not been developed to a level corresponding to its importance so far.

If a ropeway were constructed connecting the towering hills of Kondakketti, Dravyappara, Kunnathumala and Kurishumala, there is no doubt that this region could develop into one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world.

The southwest monsoon is received during the months of June and July, while the northeast monsoon is received during October and November. Since changes occurring in the environment have a significant impact on the climate, intermittent rains are now less frequent.

Nevertheless, the monsoon-related calamities that occurred in August 2018 and during the final months of 2021 seriously affected all sectors of Amboori Grama Panchayat. Many people lost their houses and agricultural lands were destroyed.
