History of Grama Panchayat
Amboori, historically inhabited by the Kaanikkar tribal community, saw Christian families from Travancore migrating there after the famine following World War II; later, people displaced by the construction of the Neyyar Reservoir were also resettled here. To the west of Amboori lies the historically significant Dravyappara (Treasure Rock), which is associated with legends involving King Marthanda Varma. Local belief holds that the deity of Dravyappara would grant wealth to the poor, but the goddess became enraged by the curiosity of a young man and sealed the entrance forever.
