Amboori is a hilly region located in the Perumkadavila Block of Kattakkada Taluk in Thiruvananthapuram district. It spans an area of 81 sq. km and has a population of approximately 23,000. The economy of Amboori Panchayat is primarily driven by agriculture.In the 19th century, a severe malaria outbreak left most of this region uninhabited. Human settlement continued without interruption only in the Kudappanamoodu ward of the panchayat. Modern agricultural practices began in the early 1930s with the first group of settlers in what is now the Mayam ward. However, due to a recurring malaria epidemic, many farmlands were abandoned.
